Important Support for NeST – Thanks to the Inner Wheel Club Wiesbaden-Kurpark

A Valuable Contribution to NeST

The Inner Wheel Club Wiesbaden-Kurpark has supported EVIM Jugendhilfe’s NeST care project with a generous donation of 3,000 euros. NeST is an innovative care program for children ages 0 to 3 who have had to be separated from their parents due to neglect or abuse. The goal is to provide parents with intensive support so they can live with their child again and learn new parenting strategies.

A Fundraiser with Heart

The donation was raised through a special campaign during the pre-Christmas season: On November 30, 2024, members of the Inner Wheel Club decorated a festive Christmas tree for donations in front of the I-Punkt restaurant in Wiesbaden. Passersby could learn about the project, pick up flyers, and even donate via an app by scanning the QR code on the information stand.

A Moving Donation Handover

The official donation handover took place at the NeST facility. Gathered around the facility’s large dining table were the president of the Inner Wheel Club, Ms. Birgit Klammer; the past president, Ms. Stefanie Bender; the regional director responsible for NeST, Natalie Bachmann; the facility director; the team leader of NeST, Ms. Theresa Halfmann; and EVIM’s fundraising coordinator, Dieter Nühlen.

In the warm and cozy atmosphere of NeST, a lively discussion took place over a cup of tea aptly named “Glücksmoment” (Moment of Happiness). Throughout the conversation, the laughter—and sometimes the crying—of babies could be heard from the comfortably furnished rooms. Several parents and their children were also present and joined the conversation, which made the significance of the project particularly tangible.

A Donation That Makes a Difference

The donation will be used to purchase urgently needed new furniture, such as changing tables and rugs. Regional Director Natalie Bachmann reported that six spots—rather than the five originally planned—are currently occupied and that the need for additional spots is constantly growing. A new apartment was set up specifically for parents who come from more distant regions or are in the process of becoming independent. Since occupancy cannot always be planned, a flexible and well-equipped environment is all the more important.

When asked about NeST’s success rate, Ms. Bachmann explained that there is no one-size-fits-all answer. But one thing is certain: every intervention is a success in terms of the child’s well-being. (dn)
