Important Support for upstairs – Thanks to the Department of Social Affairs, Education, and Housing

The Department of Social Affairs, Education, and Housing of the state capital of Wiesbaden has supported the EVIM youth assistance project “upstairs” with a generous donation of 4,000 euros. The financial assistance comes at just the right time, as vandalism to the “upstairs” bus has resulted in high repair costs.

City Councilwoman Dr. Patricia Becher had the opportunity to learn about the work of “upstairs” this past summer. In a letter from December, she emphasized the project’s importance for Wiesbaden and expressed her admiration for the team’s dedication. “Upstairs makes an important contribution to social work in Wiesbaden. Through support, perspective, and hope. And it does so flexibly and directly,” said Dr. Becher. When she learned of the damage to the bus, she decided to help with 4,000 euros. In her letter, she expressly thanked the team for their “tireless, day-to-day dedication.”

Thanks to this donation, the Upstairs bus can be repaired and continue to serve as a mobile drop-in center for young people in need. This form of support demonstrates once again how important social engagement is for keeping projects like Upstairs running.
