Generous support from the "Ten Percent Campaign" for upstairs

Last Sunday, a moving thanksgiving service took place at the Evangelical Church in Wiesbaden-Rambach, celebrating not only spiritual unity but also practical charity. The highlight was the ceremonial presentation of a donation as part of this year’s “Ten Percent Campaign,” during which the EVIM project “upstairs” received a generous contribution of 20,000 euros.

The “Ten Percent Campaign,” inspired by the biblical instruction to give a “tenth” of one’s possessions to the poor, is sponsored by the Protestant Deanery of Wiesbaden. Under the leadership of Pastor Bea Stöhr, the campaign is dedicated to supporting those in need and providing practical assistance. Each year, the “Ten Percent Campaign” supports three aid projects abroad as well as one in Germany, the “Project on Our Doorstep.” The continuity and effectiveness of this initiative are reflected in the generous donation made possible by an anonymous donor. For 50 years, this generous donor has contributed ten percent of his income to church-sponsored development aid projects worldwide, on the condition that sufficient additional supporters can be found.

This year, “upstairs,” an aid project run by EVIM Youth Services for young people in need, was selected as the “Project on Our Doorstep.” This decision underscores the importance of local support for people facing difficult life circumstances. For over 20 years, “upstairs” has provided a safe haven and support for young people in urgent need of help. The project is funded exclusively by donations, which highlights its dependence on the generosity of the community.

The donation presentation during the thanksgiving service was therefore not just a symbolic gesture, but a practical expression of solidarity and compassion. It shows how community and faith can go hand in hand to help those who need it most.
