Helping Together: 5,000 Euros for Young People in Bad Vilbel
For decades, the Dortelweiler Christmas Market has been a place where people come together to celebrate and do good at the same time. The 40th anniversary was no exception, with a focus on social causes. A donation of 5,000 euros from the proceeds will go to the EVIM Youth Welfare Emergency Shelter in Bad Vilbel, benefiting young people in urgent need.
The Dortelweiler Christmas Market has a long tradition of community involvement. For forty years, local clubs, church congregations, and many volunteers have organized a festive celebration, the proceeds of which always go to support social projects. At this year’s thank-you celebration, Klaus Althoff, director of the Dortelweiler Christmas Market project, welcomed many guests and announced the proceeds from the anniversary market. This year, the Bad Vilbel emergency shelter received a donation of 5,000 euros.
Support that makes a difference in everyday life
Paulina Talkowska, Regional Director of EVIM Youth Services, and Team Leader Silas Ludwig accepted the donation check during a symbolic presentation. In conversation with those in charge, it became clear how important supplementary in-kind donations are for the young people. In addition to winter clothing, this includes items that make daily life easier, such as a thermos mug for cold days, a weekly transit pass for the commute to school or vocational training, and a SIM card so the young people can stay reachable.
This support is particularly valuable for the work of the emergency shelter. Since opening, the team has already been able to offer many young people a reliable place to turn to. The donation from Dortelweil helps cover precisely those areas that are not funded by public funds but are nonetheless crucial for stability in daily life. The Christmas market is organized by the Dortelweiler Association of Clubs and Organizations. The organizers of the Christmas market emphasized that the proceeds traditionally benefit organizations dedicated to helping children and young people. This year, a total of 15,000 euros was distributed to three organizations.
Thanks to everyone involved
EVIM extends its heartfelt thanks to the organizers of the Dortelweiler Christmas Market, the participating clubs and church congregations, as well as all volunteers and guests for their support. This support makes a tangible difference in the daily lives of young people and helps provide them with reliable prospects. (dn)
