Celebrating for a Good Cause: Farm Festival in Wackernheim

In mid-September, the Dörrbecker and McKenzie families, in collaboration with the company “KDS Software,” hosted their annual farm festival in Wackernheim. Friends, neighbors, and many other guests gathered in a beautiful courtyard for a festive evening featuring live music, delicious food, and plenty of entertainment for the kids. The band “The McBeck’s and Friends” created a lively atmosphere with their wide-ranging repertoire, and despite the cooler temperatures, everyone danced energetically.

As is customary every year, a nonprofit organization was invited to introduce itself to the guests. This year, we were grateful that the EVIM Youth Welfare Project “upstairs” was selected. With a small booth, a roll-up banner, and informational materials, Patrick Lahr, Regional Director of EVIM Youth Welfare, and Dieter Nühlen, Fundraising Coordinator, were on site to present the work of “upstairs.” There were many interesting conversations with visitors, who showed great interest in the topic of

“young people in need.” It is particularly impressive that the proceeds from the festival will be donated to the upstairs project, which makes a very valuable contribution to supporting disadvantaged youth. The organizers have made it their mission to support regional causes close to their hearts in particular. Axel Dörrbecker, one of the organizers, explained: “Every year, we deliberately select a regional organization that is deeply committed to helping people in need.” As always, the courtyard festival was a resounding success—filled with good cheer, delicious food, lively music, and a great cause.
