The Best Gift—Thinking of Others

Why not celebrate your birthday and do some good at the same time! That’s what Thomas Köhler thought, and on the occasion of his milestone birthday, which he celebrated a few weeks ago, he raised funds for the upstairs aid project. The result was the impressive sum of 3,750 euros! A few days ago, he set off for Wiesbaden together with Jens Huchting, president of the Rotary Club Bad Homburg - Kurpark e.V., to learn more about the work being done at “upstairs” firsthand. Pastor Matthias Loyal expressed his gratitude on behalf of EVIM and reiterated that the “upstairs” project is funded entirely by donations so that it can provide assistance quickly and without red tape. Regional Director Patrick Lahr, along with Upstairs staff members Truc-Quynh Vo and Sandra Lauterbach, provided an overview of their daily work with these young people. At the same time, they highlighted the challenges they’ve faced in finding solutions over the past few years. In particular, the scarcity of affordable housing and short-term housing options repeatedly presents the team with difficult challenges. Nevertheless, “giving up” is not an option; instead, they strive every day to find new solutions to support these young people. And donations toward this cause are always warmly welcome!
